Leda Business Equipment

Ph 07 3630 2455

Email david@lbe.com.au

Web www.pointofsalesystems.com.au

Leda Business Equipment was founded in 1982 and was involved with the sales and servicing of Electronic Cash Registers. The company, whilst always selling the full range of Sharp ECRs has specialised in the selling and installing the more sophisticated machines.

Over the years Cash Registers have become more and more sophisticated but somehow the advances have never kept pace with customer's requirements. Because cash registers were ROM based we always had to work within given parameters.  In 1985 Leda commenced developing POS software and produced a PC based POS system for a leading hairdressing chain. This was very successful in providing a solution not possible with conventional Cash Registers.

From there, Leda produced general retail POS Systems and also software which worked in conjunction with communicating Sharp Cash Registers. For some time development cantered on software for Sharp Cash Registers culminating in the release of the very successful Ideal Retail Manager DOS based package.

In the year 2000, the Windows based Ideal Retail Pro was released for use with Sharp Cash Registers and Ideal POS System released as a PC based package. The following year the software development side of the company was separated and named Ideal Business Software (IBS). IBS continued developing the software and worked as a wholesale company selling its products through a dealer network. Leda was solely a retail company selling direct to end users.

Ideal Software packages have been sold in 15 countries around the world with more than 3600 installations. As well as Stock Control and Sales Analysis programs, Customer Loyalty, Membership and Kitchen Monitor software have also been developed.
